‘Kabira Khara Bazaar Mein’ – A Doha by Kabir Das

There stands Kabir in the marketplace
Wishing good to all passers-by
He hath no strife with anyone
And deems no-one an ally

Kabira Khara Bazaar Mein, Mange Sabki Khair
Na Kahu Se Dosti, Na Kahu Se Bair
(Kabir stand bazaar in, asks all for good
no one his friend, with no one any malice)

Kabir declares equanimity to be the foundation of happiness; investing emotions needlessly will often lead to distress and unhappiness, so the best path is to wish good for everyone regardless of their standing with oneself.

The bazaar (marketplace) in the doha is a metaphor for the worldly life.
