Rasool MIr (d. 1870?)- A great Kashmiri poet

I tremble I’ll fall dead
As my only hope has fled
My dearest; the one I adore
O my friend, won’t visit anymore

Thar thar chham mar shayad
Shar meh jigaruk drav nai
Khoshivun nundabon, vesiyae
Myon dilbar aav nai

Rasool Mir, like Keats, died young, was a master of romantic expression, and left an indelible mark on the literature of his culture.

He continues to endure in the hearts of Kashmiris everywhere. As it should be.
